Hilton Frankfurt City Centre: High-Rise Hospitality

Hilton Frankfurt City Centre review

Our review of Hilton Frankfurt City Centre will take you through the rooms, executive lounge, restaurant, and garden of the luxury business hotel in Frankfurt.

Some hotels are so exquisite that the experience of staying in them makes you fall in love with the city itself. The moment we enter the expertly designed and engineered Hilton Frankfurt City Centre, we know this is going to be one such destination. It is only 3km away from the main station, and although Frankfurt is known to be the nucleus of Germany’s economy, Hilton Frankfurt City Centre is set in the midst of serene greenery. If that’s not reason enough to experience the hotel’s hospitality, worry not – we’ll give you many more.

First Look at Hilton Frankfurt City Centre

The Wallanlagen (Wall Park) is a 5km-long belt of greenery in Frankfurt am Main, the city centre. Hilton Frankfurt City Centre overlooks one part of this winding park, called Bockenheimer Anlage. A little pond with adorable ducks and ducklings, a wonderful cycling and jogging track, as also copious seats on the fringes of tree orchards and lawns lie a stone’s throw away from the hotel. We make our way to Hilton Frankfurt City Centre from the main road, and pass by stunning skyscrapers on the way.

Official check-in time is at 3 PM and we’re quite early, so we decide to take a look around first. The architecture of the hotel is interesting – geometric lines and arcs intersect with exposed stairways, reflective flooring, and a life-sized artwork depicting Frankfurt’s skyline. Beside it, the words “We are Hilton. We are hospitality” are proudly emblazoned. There’s a bar opposite the check-in counter, and a large restaurant straight ahead, with the park beyond its walls. The hotel staff is so gracious – they invite us to wait in the Executive Lounge while our room is getting ready.

It's a good thing they have so many check-in counters, because this hotel tends to get rather busy.

The Executive Lounge at Hilton Frankfurt City Centre

The 11th floor Executive Lounge is an oasis of exclusivity and calm. One can read a book or work on a laptop while sipping on juice and coffee from the pantry. There’s a large television as well, for those who’d prefer to be entertained. Muted lights, comfortable couch seats, and delicious snacks like bread sticks, peanuts, dried apricots, and fruits, kept us company while we waited. All Executive Rooms (situated on the 10th and 12th floors of the hotel) have access to this lounge, which serves breakfast, tea, and evening drinks in addition to being operational throughout the day.

The afternoon tea service has just begun when a staff member comes up to inform us that our room was ready. So we have time to sample the chocolate and berry tarts with fragrant latte macchiato before we leave the comfortable environs of the executive lounge. Of course, we’ll return in the late evening to enjoy some Ballantine’s and samosas (surprisingly authentic!) along with salad, bread, and cheese. There’s also a selection of beer (even a non-alcoholic one called Clausthaler), wine, rum, brandy, and vodka.

Our King Executive Room

We feel so privileged when we step into our gorgeously spacious King Executive Room on the 10th floor, with sweeping views of Frankfurt’s skyline, the park, and the mountains in the distance, from not one, but two floor-to-ceiling windows covering two sides of the room. We’re not sure if all rooms have this dual view, but you’re sure to get either a city or park-view room in the Executive rooms category. There is a king-sized double bed, writing desk, sofa and table, tea-coffee maker, ice bucket, and welcome chocolates as well. We are pleased to see a bath-tub in the swanky bathroom, equipped with luxurious toiletries and a shower cubicle. We’re certainly going to have a hard time leaving this comfy and inspiring room!

The Lobby Bar at Hilton Frankfurt City Centre

We spend the evening sightseeing, taking in the marvellous city hall, cathedral, and other historic buildings in the Old Town, then walking down to the River Main, and crossing a bridge dotted with love locks to make it to the Museumsufer. The Altstadt is within walking distance of Hilton Frankfurt City Centre, which is the advantage of staying in the heart of the city. Later, we enjoy some drinks and snacks at the Executive Lounge. We expect it to be crowded, but that’s not the case. It seems as though chaos is inadmissible in that sacred space, and we couldn’t be more glad. Before we retire to our room, we step down to enjoy the vibes at Vista Bar & Lounge in the lobby. There’s also The Gekkos, an elite cigar lounge on the same level.

Sunrise in Our Room

We leave the curtains open while sleeping, and in the wee hours of the morning, the first change of colour in the sky is ours to see. The world is drenched in indigo, and then slowly, the sun rubs sleep out of its eyes, and with it, all darkness from the sky. Glorious tones of saffron and gold streak the Frankfurt skyline, until eventually, the sun becomes a fiery globe of luminescence. It is a spectacular sunrise that we can observe from two perspectives: the breaking dawn to the extreme left, and the stunning reflections on the glass buildings on the right.

Breakfast at Park Restaurant

We head to the park-view restaurant in the lobby for breakfast and find a delightful spread waiting for us. It’s a little chilly, so we’re glad to be seated indoors at a table with a lovely view of the park. A chef flips omelettes expertly at a live station, and an enticing array of juices, salads, muffins, breads, and cheeses are ours to sample. A waitress offers us freshly brewed and squeezed filter coffee and orange juice, and we gladly accept. There are hash browns, many types of yogurt, and muesli on offer as well. Hilton Frankfurt City Centre appears to be at nearly full occupancy, and we’re glad the restaurant is large enough to accommodate everyone comfortably.

Just before checking out, we pop over to the executive lounge to see what they have on the breakfast menu. And really, apart from the live egg station, there’s everything you might need – scrambled eggs, cold meats, bread, cheese, cereal, yogurt, muesli, fruits, and salad. It’s also less crowded, and quieter than the Park Restaurant. So if you need to have a quick working breakfast, that’s where you should go.

Other Amenities at Hilton Frankfurt City Centre

The hotel comes with a cutting-edge gym, an indoor pool that’s half the size of an Olympic one, a solarium (that’s an artificial sunbed where you can get a tan without being in the sun), a beauty salon, and many other wellness fixtures. Chances are, if you can think of something you need, it’s there at Hilton Frankfurt City Centre. Business executives can choose from various tastefully designed meeting rooms upstairs. The hotel also has child-friendly facilities and ramps for those who use wheelchairs. And yes, pets are allowed, so you don’t have to leave your furry companion behind.
