Liebster Award: 2016

Last year, essayist Erin J Bernard had nominated me for my very first Liebster Award. It’s a community award given by bloggers to other budding bloggers. I’m not sure I qualify as ‘budding’ any more, having been a travel blogger since January 2015, but I think it’s really sweet of Sheetu to confer this honour…

My wanderlust list for 2016

I realise that we are two months into the year, but there’s no law against posting a wanderlust list in March. Besides you know what they say about wishes – let the Universe know and they shall manifest (subject to terms and conditions)! Hoping that the forces are listening, here is a list of destinations…

India, from a foreigner’s eyes

We travel to fall in love; with a stranger’s land and a culture that often has nothing in common with ours other than that it’s also based on love and mutual respect. But what British Airways has accomplished with its latest heartwarming campaign is to remind us of the immense warmth nestled in our own…

Send an overseas surprise with the Zaldee app!

A couple weeks ago, one of my friend, called me up and told me that he is aware of an app named Zaldee that allowed people to make money while they travelled. How exactly did they do that? I asked. The lure of luxury travel

Until not so recently, I was a die-hard advocate of budget travel but lately, I’ve begun to succumb to the lure of luxury travel. I’ve begun to give in to the pleasures of welcome drinks, billowy beds and room service that makes you feel like royalty. And when all this is accompanied by spa treatments in…

How to travel at any age

I’m 26 but that’s not going to last forever. And I want to be able to travel even when those digits get reversed. Is that an impossible goal? Not really, as I discovered on my last travel blogging trip to the forests of Madhya Pradesh. There, I met Inderjit Ahluwalia, a travel writing veteran and…

Don’t go for a holiday.

Everyone travels for a different reason. For some, a country is simply a notch on the travelling equivalent of a bedpost. For others, it’s a conversation starter. But it’ll never be anything more than a series of AC transfers and packaged Indian meals and half hour long stops at touristy landmarks, unless you make the change for yourself.

A Drug called Solitude: Solo Travel in Europe

The picture most have of solo travel is that of staying in backpacker’s hostels and going clubbing with motley groups of tourists. But in Europe, I had the kind of solo travel where I met no one, spoke to no one and befriended no one for several days on end.
