I’ve wanted to enjoy a meal at Salt Water Cafe since the longest time. But don’t be fooled by the ‘cafe’ in its name. The menu isn’t very exhaustive but it’s varied enough, with a good collection of healthful Italian and European soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and a few mains and desserts. You could compare it to The Pantry at Kala Ghoda, both in terms of price and choice of items. It’s not everyday that you receive an invitation for a vegetarian wining and dining experience. Vegetarian food with wine? What’s that? That, is actually a culinary revelation that the chefs at Sofitel decided to unfurl on a languid Friday night. The saga of north Indian delicacies and choice red and white wines from the Loire …
If Chef Isep Hidayatulloh can make it all the way from Indonesia to Mumbai just so the good people here can partake of the flavours of Indonesia, can’t I travel mere miles to experience the flourish of his culinary brush? Of course I can. Alas, I missed the opening ceremony at Pondichery Cafe, Sofitel BKC …

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his tummy. Sometimes, so is the way to a new country. Especially when you’re low on finances and find your bank balance trembling at the very thought of pushing that ‘book’ button. This Independence Day, I had the urge to tummy-travel to the country whose …
